My city was wracked by a storm on Friday afternoon. There were many trees and branches knocked down by powerful winds. As Pat was giving me a lift home from work, we found ourselves surrounded by blinding sheets of rain and bombarded by pea-sized hail. Fortunately, we both made it to our homes safely. However, the power was out at my place. I missed "Doctor Who" (it was a new one I wanted to tape), and when the power did come back on, it woke me early Saturday morning. I had turned on my light after the power went out and before I went to bed, so my light came on when the power did and woke me up.
On Saturday, Harry and Liz had a bunch of stuff to do, so I didn't get together with them that day. Instead, I went out and got my hair cut. I did most of the laundry, ironed some shirts, and started watching my tape of My Favorite Martian (the film starring Christopher Lloyd as the Martian).
Today, I did my grocery shopping. Harry and Liz came by and picked me up. We ran some errands, then went to see Wall-E. It was a good movie, and I think there were some subtle adult messages in it. For example, one message seemed to be that, if we allow machines to do all our work for us, then we will become fat, flabby, and dumb. I finished watching My Favorite Martian.
This is my online account of various events in my real life, as well as the occasional daydream or fantasy or evening dream. All real people besides me (who aren't celebrities) will be identified by code names (to protect the innocent).

Peter II is a mother.
Last night, I gave Peter II an ant to eat, since I hadn't fed my spider in awhile. This morning, I looked in the jar and spotted over a dozen tiny spiders in the web with Peter II. Apparently, the fuzzy ball (or balls?) stuck to the underside of the lid was an eggsack, and the eggs hatched some time last night or this morning.
Given how long I have had Peter II in that jar, I am inclined to believe that the tiny spider I threw in there with Peter and Peter II (prior to Peter's death) was a male of Peter II's species. That would explain why the third spider seemed to disappear a few times before it died. It was preparing to mate with Peter II.
Meanwhile, I am being cautious in my dealings with Betty. I haven't chatted with her as much this week as last week, but we have spoken briefly about work stuff throughout the week. And there have been some meaningful eye contact recently as well. She may be sensing my attraction to her, I'm not sure......

Woman at work, time with friends.
Okay, there is this woman at my workplace (Betty) who started around the time my company moved to the new location near my friends' (Harry and Liz) workplace. In recent weeks, I have noticed her looking at me. A few weeks (or maybe a month, I'm not sure) ago, our eyes met while I was working at the copy machine, and I felt something.
Since then, I have found myself thinking about Betty a lot. I have seen her stand near me during our department meetings, and the other day, she actually sat next to me in the break room near the end of my lunch hour. In recent days, I have conversed with her more than I had before, usually with her initiating the conversation. I have been wondering if she is interested in me.
However, when Betty was sitting next to me in the break room on Friday, I overheard her mention her boyfriend while talking with a woman across the table. I don't know how serious her relationship is with him, since this is the first time I've ever heard her mention any kind of significant other. It is possible she thinks things are about to end with this guy (I got the impression from her conversation that he lives in another city), or perhaps I have misread her intentions toward me. For now, I think I shall try to feel things out.....
Saturday, Harry and Liz were busy with some stuff, so I didn't end up seeing them until later in the afternoon. I kept busy with laundry, reading, and some cleaning in my room. I played some of my "Spider-Man: Friend or Foe" game. We were going to see Get Smart, but we got a little concerned about the time. Instead, we walked around the mall near where I used to live, then got dinner at a Panera Bread place. After dinner, we visited a pet store and a new book store in town that buys books and sells books (many of them used) for half-price.
Today, I ran some errands, did some reading, and watched an episode of "Smallville" I had recorded a few weeks ago, but hadn't seen yet. I spoke with Cosmo on the phone briefly and updated my retirement account.

Technical difficulties, etc.
The reason I haven't blogged in a while has been technical difficulties. A week ago, the computer I normally use picked up a virus and had some spyware issues. I had hoped to have it up and running by now, but no such luck. Fortunately, Diana has allowed me to use her laptop until the computer is fixed.
Meanwhile, I have kept pretty busy. Last week (June 2-7), I did some cleaning around the townhouse. I went to see Kung Fu Panda with Harry and Liz. I read Batman vs Predator.
This past week (June 8-14), I watched my DVD of Ghost Rider (Extended Cut). I did a lot of reading, including Batman vs. Predator II. I went to see a doctor twice (on Wednesday and Friday) about a sore area on my back. The doc said it was an abscess, and she worked on draining it both times I was there. On Saturday, I went to see The Incredible Hulk with Harry, Liz, and some relatives of theirs.

Finishing stuff weekend.
Well, this was a weekend of finishing stuff. First, Harry and I finally finished our game of "Dark Kingdom." We faced off with the evil Priestess, using tips I had found in an online walk-through for the game. I got cut down by a laser, but Harry survived and finished off the evil Priestess. After a number of tries, we managed to drive the evil out of the corrupted King. I helped by using my mage character's gravity-shifting powers to destroy these evil-looking devices that were feeding the dark power controlling the king. My character died, but Harry's warrior survived and was able to beat the evil out of the king.
Second, I finished reading a book I started almost two weeks ago on Saturday evening. It was all about a man coming to a small town in Washington and letting people think he is Jesus. The story is narrated by a former Pentacostal pastor who the fake Jesus confides in because of some common negative experiences both had concerning their faith. Most of the book is the flashbacks of the former pastor, while the rest of it is how he, his old church's new pastor, and some other people decide to confront the faker.
Third, Diana and I finished some leftover stuff in the fridge. I had leftover macaroni and cheese, and there was leftover lasagne Diana had cooked last week. Earlier today, Diana and Gwen were over, and we finished some leftover pizza the former had brought the night before.
Finally, I finished the laundry last night that had been piling up all last week. Today is the beginning of a new month, so I will be interested in seeing what else gets started and finished in the days to come.....
