Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! This above pic is the jack-o'lantern I carved this year. I took this picture with the lights in my stairway off and without the flash so that the candle light would be bright through the bat shape I cut into it.

Here's a picture from my recent completion of my "X-Men Legends II" game:

I took this picture during the cutscene that followed my victory over Apocalypse. Looking at this, I can almost imagine that he's yelling, "DAVID!" in frustration from his defeat.

This past week has been so-so when it comes to Betty. Her birthday was this week, and I e-mailed her about it a few times. She replied quickly to my e-mails and was pleased with me wishing her a happy birthday. I didn't get to talk to her in person at all, though. I did get some long-distance glimpses of her on Monday and Tuesday, but I didn't see her at all Wednesday and Thursday.

As for me, I have today off of work. I'm waiting to hear from Harry and Liz. Our plans (the last time I spoke with Harry) were to get together today at their place and hand out candy to any trick-or-treaters who stopped by. They have the day off of work as well, the first Halloween Liz has had off in awhile (according to Harry)....

Fighting Satan and Apocalypse.

I had this dream Saturday morning about fighting Satan: I was heading for Heaven, but Satan intercepted me. He was hounding me and saying things to discourage me. The Holy Spirit came upon me, and I hit Satan. He fell back, then approached me again. I struck him again, and he fell on his back. I got up to the outer gates of Heaven (which resembled a huge set of steel doors), and Satan came at me again. I entwined my fingers and struck him hard. He flew backwards across the yard. I opened the outer gates and stepped inside. I could see another set of gates ahead of me, looking like they were made of golden, glowing bars. Satan leapt in my path, blocking my way to the inner gates. Jesus appeared, wearing a glowing white robe. He grabbed Satan, and I stepped back through the outer gates so I would be out of the way. I heard a yell from Satan and saw a bright flash of light through the outer gates. A meter or two away (no more than six feet), a stiff, charred form landed on the ground. I looked at it and realized it was Satan: he was still alive, but badly injured. Jesus landed beside me in a manner that reminded me of Superman, and we went back through the outer gates and headed toward the shining gates of Heaven......

Meanwhile, I haven't had any more sightings of Betty since Wednesday. I have a shorter week at work this week, so I hope I will see her before I leave work on Thursday.

On Saturday, I watched half of my DVD of Underworld. I did the laundry and a lot of reading. I also finished my game of "X-Men Legends II." I switched Iceman out for Nightcrawler, then faced off with the living Monolith. While my team (Nightcrawler, Gambit, and Juggernaut) pounded on him, I flew around as Iron Man and blocked off the sun rays Monolith was using to power himself. We moved on to fight Apocalypse himself, and he kept regenerating his health with a machine. I used the machine to power up Iron Man, then Nightcrawler, while I destroyed these generators powering the machine in some side rooms. After destroying the generators, we faced off with the Four Horsemen and Apocalypse. After defeating them, the game was over. Deadpool was unlocked as a playable character, so I swapped out Juggernaut and swapped in Deadpool. If I play the game again sometime, I may use that team (or replace Gambit with Juggernaut).

Today, I kept busy. I did my grocery shopping and got my hair cut (over a week later than I had originally planned). I watched more of Underworld and did more reading. Later, I hope to play "Rampage: Total Destruction" some more.

Rampage, Betty sightings.

I played around with my new PS2 game last night--"Rampage: Total Destruction." This time, I played as Shelby, a giant bipedal turtle. I wrecked Vegas and moved on to San Francisco before quitting for the night.

Yesterday afternoon and today, I had virtually identical Betty sightings. As Pat and I were leaving work, I saw Betty leaving the building and waved at her. She saw me on both occasions, but today she looked away as I waved and didn't wave herself (unlike yesterday).

Batman, Giant Squid Rampage.

Well, I did get some distant glimpses of Betty on Thursday, but that was it. I would say last week was the worst week of Betty sightings since the first week she started working in the department across the building from mine.

On Saturday, I got together with Harry. We ran an overdue errand, enabling me to sell some PS2 games I didn't want anymore and buy a new game--"Rampage: Total Destruction." We went to his place and played the rest of "Justice League Heroes." I finally got to play as Superman, which was pretty cool. I also played as Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner), the Huntress, and the Flash. After that, we played "LEGO Batman." I played as Robin, and it took us awhile to get the hang of things. We beat Clayface after I learned how to throw a Batrang (hold the square button, then aim with the left stick before releasing the button). Afterwards, we went out and picked up Liz.

On Sunday, I used some cheat codes to mess around with my new game. In the game, I went on a rampage in Vegas as Cal, a giant, mutant squid. I ate people, threw cars, and smashed buildings. It was fun, but it will be more fun once I get more of a feel for the game and the various moves I can use.....

X-Men Legends II, Sunday Lunch.

Well, I made more progress with my "X-Men Legends II" game on Saturday. I finished most of the 5th and final act. I unlocked Iron Man, then added him to my team. Currently, my team consists of Gambit (my range attack guy and demolition guy), Iceman (my bridge builder and fire extinguisher), Iron Man (my flier and extra range attack guy), and Juggernaut (my brawler and tank guy). I think the only thing left in the game is the final confrontation with Apocalypse.

Today, I went to Cosmo and Wanda's with Diana, Gwen, and Norman. We had lunch there to celebrate Cosmo's upcoming birthday early (he and Wanda will be travelling that weekend). I took several pictures of their place with my regular camera, which I hope to get developed and scanned soon. Aside from that, not much has been going on this weekend.

Betty sighting at lunch.

I saw Betty today at lunch. I was sitting in the break room, and she came in. I noticed her a moment before she looked at me. We spoke briefly, then she left. She had come in to get something before going back to work, so she probably couldn't stay to chat. Also, there were other people in the room, so it would have been hard to talk anyway....

Strange spider occurrence, brief glimpses of Betty.

On Monday night, I had a strange thing happen to me: I was ironing a shirt and watching "Heroes," when I noticed a spider descending on a silk line from the ceiling less than a meter in front of me. I quickly grabbed my clear film container and caught the spider. Last night, I released the spider outside my townhouse door.

Yesterday, I caught a few brief glimpses of Betty. Once, I thought I saw her through the window of her department walking away from the window. Later, I noticed her through the window of my area turning to enter the ladies' restroom. Sadly, I didn't see her at all today.

Palin on Sunday.

I didn't see Betty on Friday or today (Monday), which was kind of a bummer. Saturday was a pretty quiet day, since I just stayed home and did laundry that day. I played my "X-Men Legends II" game for a while.
I did get to see Sarah Palin at the rally last night. Here is one of the better pictures that I took of her. She appears to be asking someone how they want her to sign something. Sadly, I was so far from her (Diana and I were up in the balcony), that I had to max out the zoom on my digital camera. Most of my pictures from the event were on the fuzzy side, and my current photo editor doesn't seem to have a sharpen option. I may have to send some of my pics to Cosmo to see if he can improve them. She seemed like a really down-to-earth gal with a lot of spunk. I certainly think she and McCain are far more trustworthy than the other people running.

Today's Betty sightings.

After nearly a week, I finally saw Betty. I spotted her a couple of times toward the end of today. First, I saw her (and she saw and waved at me) as I was running something downstairs. I would've talked to her, but there was a door between us. Also, moments after seeing her, I realized I had forgotten something, so I had to go back and get it. Later, I saw her leaving after I left the building with Pat. We were right behind her car most of the way back to my place, but then she turned off a few blocks before we did.
