Gauntlet, Cosmo's birthday.

Yesterday, I decided to try a different character at the 2nd lowest level of difficulty (I already beat the game in the lowest level as my wizard character, Prosper) in "Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows." I played as the valkyrie, a female warrior carrying a sword. She was good in close quarters, but her range attacks were kind of weak. After beating the Scarecrow (the 2nd Sorrow), I loaded my saved character, Prosper. I did pretty well as him, using a flame-thrower like attack against the Twisted Man (the 3rd Sorrow).

Today, Diana and I got together with Cosmo, Wanda, Gwen, and Norman to celebrate Cosmo's birthday. We met at Norman's place and ate a take-out barbeque lunch. We ate cake, then gave Cosmo his gifts. We had a pretty good time.

Surrogates.

The week was kind of peaceful. I finished watching my "Heroes" (Season 1) DVDs. I spoke with Larry on Friday, but he wasn't sure when he would have more stuff for me. Saturday, I did most of the laundry and some reading.

Yesterday, I kept busy. I did the usual Sunday stuff. I talked to Pat for a short while. I did some reading and finished the laundry. Harry and Liz called, and we went to see the movie Surrogates. It was an interesting movie about people living their lives through androids.

The Final Sorrow.

On Saturday, I finished my game of "Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows." I fought my way through the Deep Fortress and Caldera. In Caldera, I faced off with the Master of the Caldron. Strangely enough, this battle was a lot easier than fighting the Great Troll. Like the Great Troll, I had lots of creatures attacking me. This time around, the Master's attacks helped me take out the creatures, and I also tried some of the spells/powers I purchased to keep them clear of me. I discovered that the ballistas that I fired at the Master (there were four of them) were great cover when he/it would spit a huge fireball at me. The Master would also rain fire on me from time to time, but this attack hurt my attackers more than me (I would run in zig-zig patterns to dodge the fire). After I fired the last ballista, the Master roared in pain and defeat and sank into the lava (as you can see in the above pic).

Besides that, I didn't have too much going on. I did some cleaning around the townhouse during the week. On Saturday, we had snow, so I didn't end up going to see Harry and Liz. Cosmo and Wanda stopped by on Saturday and hung out for a few hours. Today, I worked on finishing the laundry and did some reading.

Weekend with loved ones.

On Saturday, Gwen called and wanted to know if I had errands to run. I did, and she offered to have me over for dinner as well. Norman joined us for dinner, and we watched K-9000: a 1990's movie about a washed-up cop who helps an attractive female scientist rescue a dog with enhanced DNA and a computer-implant in its brain....

Today, I got together with Harry and Liz. We ran a few errands, then went to their place. We played a game they rented for the week--"Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2." It had great graphics, but I think I like the original "Alliance" game better. Afterwards, Harry and I had a late dinner before he took me back to my place.

More Gauntlet this week.

I played more of "Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows" this week. On Wednesday, I beat the 5th Sorrow--the Grand Magistrate. He was much tougher than the last Boss: he used magical attacks on me. I used a few of my own to beat him, then I moved on to the Dungeon Deeps.

Today, I took on the 6th Sorrow--the Great Troll. He was even tougher than the Magistrate, mostly because his minions (the regular Trolls) kept swarming out at me while I tried to fight him. In retrospect, I should have used the strategy from my fight with the Stone Golem (manna blasts) against him. The Great Troll kept setting me on fire with flame-thrower attacks, besides occasionally hitting me with his club on the occasions he got close enough to me to use it. I used my range attacks and lured him onto fire grill traps to take him down. I played a while longer until I reached the Underworld Crossing.....My character (Prosper) is now at level 18, and I have one last Boss to beat.....
