Christmas weekend.

On Thursday, I had the day off of work. I had a dentist appointment. I also vacuumed my room. I watched my tape of TRON.

On Friday (Christmas Eve), I got together with Harry, Liz, and Norma. We went to see TRON: Legacy. We had lunch and ran a few errands. Back at their house, I helped Harry set up their Christmas tree. We opened gifts, then they took me home.
Christmas Day, I hung out. I did some reading and laundry. I watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians on Elvira's Movie Macabre. I felt sick later in the evening.
Today, I was supposed to visit Cosmo and Wanda with Diana, Gwen, and Norman. I was really sick, so I stayed home and slept on and off for about half the day. I felt better this evening, so I had some dinner and watched more of my third tape of "Star Trek: Voyager" episodes.

Chilly weekend.

I worked a lot of overtime at work this week (at least for me). I came in on Saturday and worked for about four hours. After work, I took a nap and did laundry. The weather got very cold, and it was windy and snowing as well.

Today was still super cold. I did the usual Sunday stuff. After lunch, I took a nap and did some reading. I wrapped my white elephant gift for work.

Quiet December weekend.

I didn't do too much this weekend outside of the usual stuff. I decorated my artificial Christmas tree (will post an image of it later) on Friday night. On Saturday, I ate lunch with Harry at the local KFC and did most of my laundry. Yesterday and today, I watched the rest of my 2nd videotape of "Star Trek: Voyager" episodes.

Harry and family, work, Thanksgiving weekend.

I have spent a lot of time with Harry and his family lately. A week ago yesterday, I got together with them to celebrate Harry's birthday early. We ate lunch at an Italian restaurant across town. We stopped by the Bass Pro Shop and got Norma's picture taken with Santa. We went to their place, and I played "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2" with Harry. We finished the Latveria level and started on the New York level.

On Thanksgiving, I got together with Harry, Liz, and Norma and had dinner at Harry's parents' house. I took some pictures of Norma. I watched part of a football game with them, then they gave me a lift home.

Meanwhile, I am still squeezing in overtime at work. I found out over a week and a half ago that I didn't get the permanent position I applied for. Things are still pretty busy, so I will probably still be working there for the rest of the holiday season. I had half of Wednesday and all of Thanksgiving Day off, and I got to leave over an hour early on Friday.

Yesterday, I celebrated Thanksgiving with Cosmo, Wanda, Diana, Norman, and Gwen. We had a late lunch at Norman and Gwen's place. Afterwards, I watched half an episode of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" on Netflix with Norman. After I got home, I did laundry.

Today, I kept busy. I did some cleaning around the townhouse, including vacuuming most of the carpets. I wrote a check for one of my credit cards and watched more of my second tape of "Star Trek: Voyager" episodes.

Star Trek: Voyager, work.

After finishing my DVD's of "Heroes" (2nd season), I started watching my first tape of "Star Trek: Voyager" episodes. So far, I've watched three episodes: "Bride of Chaotica" (the holodeck runs amok when the ship gets locked in a subspace eddy that connects the ship to a photon-based universe) and both parts of "Dark Horizon" (Seven of Nine is coerced into returning to the Borg during a daring heist by the crew to obtain a transwarp coil).

Meanwhile, I've also been working overtime at my job. I had an interview last Wednesday for a permanent position (I've been temping since late April), but I haven't heard back yet on the position I interviewed for.

Megamind weekend.

On Friday, I got together with Norman and Gwen and saw Megamind in 3-D. It was pretty funny. Will Farrell definitely has a future in animation. We also saw some stuff about the upcoming Tron: Legacy movie.

On Saturday, I went out and got my hair cut. I did some vacuuming. I also did some reading and finished watching my "Heroes" (Season 2) DVDs. I worked on some of my pictures from Halloween.

Today, I finished the vacuuming. I walked over to McDonald's and had lunch. I hung around and did some reading.

Halloween Weekend.

I had a pretty good time on Halloween weekend. On Saturday, I watched my DVD copy of The Wraith. On Halloween, I got together with Harry, Liz, and Norma. I ran some errands and had lunch with them. Back at their place, I took pictures of Norma with her parents and her grandparents (Harry's parents). Liz's parents dropped by as well, but I was too busy carving jack-o'lanterns with Harry to get any shots of them with Norma. Later, I ate dinner with them and watched some Netflix of Jeff Dunham's comedy specials. Throughout the evening, I helped hand out candy to trick-or-treaters (and there were a lot of those). Sadly, I forgot to put out the jack-o'latern I had carved on Thursday night (pictured above) before going out with Harry and his family on Sunday. I thought about putting it outside today, but it was all moldy and stinky by the time I got home from work.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Working on the weekend, Cosmo's birthday.

I came in to work for a few hours on Saturday. I made several calls, but only spoke to a few people. Afterwards, I ran a few errands and did my usual Saturday stuff.

Yesterday was Cosmo's birthday. Diana, Gwen, Norman, and myself drove to his place. We had lunch with them, then he opened various cards he received. When I got home, I finished the laundry and called Clark.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Fallen, Batman/Superman.

On Saturday, I got together with Harry, Liz, and Norma. We picked up pizza and watched a miniseries on DVD called "Fallen." It's all about a young man (Aaron) who discovers he is the offspring of a fallen angel and a human (a Nephilim). He has the ability to understand animals and other human languages, as well as create a flaming sword at will and move at super human speed. He's being hunted by the Powers, a group of angels assigned to destroy the Nephilim and the fallen angels. He learns from a fallen angel that he is a special Nephilim with the ability to redeem fallen angels, enabling them to return to heaven. He travels with his dog (Gabriel) and the former leader of the Powers, Camael. After watching the miniseries, I borrowed a DVD from Harry, and they gave me a ride home.

The DVD I borrowed was Batman/Superman: Apocalypse. It's based on the trade "Batman/Superman: Supergirl." After the destruction of the huge Kryptonite asteroid from Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, Batman finds a spaceship in Gotham City Harbor. While he is investigating it, a young woman with super powers like Superman shows up. He subdues her with Kryptonite, and Superman learns she is his long lost cousin from Krypton, Kara. Unfortunately, Darkseid also learns of her existence and decides he wants her to lead his Female Furies. I've watched about two thirds of it so far, and it's pretty exciting.

Spiders everywhere.

I've seen a lot of spiders lately. Friday morning, I saw a spider crawling across the corner of my bed by the light of my TV. Friday night, I was at a wedding for one of my supervisor's from work (Matt). During the reception, I was sitting with Matt's boss and her husband. I looked over and saw a spider crawling across the husband's sleeve.

Saturday, I was in my bathroom and spotted a pair of spiders (one was a house spider, the other was a cellar spider) fighting near the door. That same day, I found a spider in the dryer right as I was about to put some clothing I had washed into it.

Today, I was working on the remaining laundry and found a spider in the dryer again. This spider looked a lot like the last spider I had seen in there on Saturday.

Besides all the spiders I saw, I watched more of my season 2 DVD's of "Heroes." I finished the first DVD last week, then started the second DVD this weekend.

Monday, October 04, 2010

Heroes and Washers.

This weekend, I started watching the second season of "Heroes" on DVD. I keep track of what movies I watch on tape and DVD (and when I finish watching them). I was looking through my notes and discovered it has been nearly a year since I finished watching the first season of "Heroes" on DVD.

Not much else has been going on. Diana got a game called "Washers" from the local grocery store recently. It's a game where you try to toss metal washers (imagine a metal disk about three inches wide and 1/4 of an inch thick with an inch-wide hole in the middle) into a box about fifteen feet away. There is a plastic tube in the center of the box, and if you get the washer in the tube, then you get three points (versus getting one point for landing the washer in the box). We play to twelve points (winner must win by at least two points). We've played seven games in the last couple of days, and I've won four of them.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Robin Hood and Inception.

On Friday night, Harry and Liz picked me up. Norma was with them, but she was asleep most of the time. We ran some errands, then Harry and I watched Robin Hood (2010 version) on DVD.

Yesterday, Diana and I went to the movies. She went to see Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and I went to see Inception. Later, I did laundry and watched more of Batman and Robin on DVD.

Today, I did the usual Sunday stuff. I napped for awhile, then finished the laundry. I did some reading and went to a thing at my church. I finished watching my Batman and Robin DVD.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Busy weekend.

I had a busy weekend. On Saturday, I got together with Harry and Liz. I got to meet and hold their new addition: Norma. We ran some errands, then ate pizza at Harry's folks' house. I took some pictures, and we went back to Harry's. We watched Percy Jackson & the Olympians: the Lightning Thief on DVD, then he took me back to my place. I did some laundry and watched TV.

Today, I got together with a bunch of people for lunch. Timmy and Trixie were in town for a reunion. Diana, Norman, Gwen, Cosmo, and Wanda came over as well. We had food from the local bar-b-q place, as well as some sloppy joe stuff Diana made. I took a nap after everyone left, then worked on laundry.

Monday, September 06, 2010

Labor Day Weekend.

It's been a peaceful Labor Day Weekend. I vacuumed my room. I ironed some shirts. I watched bits and pieces of the Star Wars movies on Spike. I did some reading. I started watching my third tape of "Star Trek: the Next Generation" episodes.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Stealth sighting.

Not much happened this weekend. I went with Diana as she picked up her new car on Saturday. On the way home, I spotted a Stealth bomber (I recognized it by the jagged edge along the back edge) flying over town. I pointed it out to Diana, and she mentioned hearing about an air show that was going on over the weekend.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

Star Trek: Next Generation weekend.

I kept busy this weekend. I watched a couple hours of my tape of "Star Trek: the Next Generation." I did some vacuuming. I got my hair cut. I edited some photos I took a few weeks ago when I went to the wedding. I did some reading.

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Red Hood Day.

Yesterday, I got together with Harry and Liz. We spend most of the day together. In the morning, they picked me up. We ran some errands and ate lunch at Hector's. They dropped me off at their place and let me play "X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse" while they visited some other friends. I got all the way to the sea wall mission before they got back. Harry and I watched Batman: Under the Red Hood on DVD. Later, we ate dinner and played "Marvel: Scene It."

Monday, August 09, 2010

Wedding Weekend.

This weekend, I went on a road trip with Norman, Gwen, and Diana. Diana's cousin was getting married, so we all got in Gwen's car and headed up to Minnesota. Diana made the motel arrangements so we wouldn't have to worry about driving back on Saturday night after the reception. We met Cosmo and Wanda up there, and they had a room in the same motel.

Yesterday morning, we had breakfast and hit the road. We made it back late afternoon. In the evening, I made mac'n cheese and did the laundry.

Sunday, August 01, 2010

The Wraith and Batman.

I didn't get together with Harry and Liz, but I did watch a few movies this weekend. First, I watched The Wraith on a DVD I had ordered using a gift card from Timmy. The movie is about a guy who comes back from the dead with a cool car to avenge his death at the hands of a street-racing gang. His car is unique: fast and able to regenerate itself whenever it is damaged or destroyed. Yesterday and today, I watched parts of my Batman DVD (the movie with Michael Keaton at the title character).

Besides the movies, I did some stuff around the townhouse. First, I vacuumed. I found a few spiders while vacuuming my room. I let one go outside and released the other in the refuge area I have designated in the laundry room. Then, I did laundry. I also ironed some shirts and wrote some checks.

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Avatar and shopping.

I watched the movie I got from Harry and Liz after the past few days: Avatar. In spite of its semi-liberal tone (the natural-loving natives versus the invading, greedy military forces), it is a very compelling movie. The visual effects are compelling: the floating mountains, the alien animals, and the bizarre plants take one's breath away. Sigorney Weaver is in rare form as Grace, showing a mixture of the toughness she had as Ripley in the Alien movies and the compassion for others she had in Galaxy Quest (and probably some other movies she did that I haven't seen like Gorillas in the Mist). The big lesson I got from the movie was that greed and prejudice can blind a person to the beauty and inmeasurable value found in life itself.

Besides watching Avatar, I did some shopping this weekend using two of the gift cards I got for my birthday. On Saturday, I used the gift card I got from Cosmo and Wanda to get some supplies, a four-pack of the live-action Batman movies (before Christian Bale took over the role), and the 2nd season of "Heroes." Today, I bought Doctor Who: The TARDIS Handbook and a card game version of Monopoly using the gift card I got from Clark.

Happy Birthday to me!

I had a pretty good weekend leading up to my birthday. Harry and I got together on Saturday. He and Liz gave me a number of gifts: some books, a T-shirt, and a DVD (Avatar). I ordered myself a present (pictured above) that I received last week in the mail, which I showed to Gwen, Cosmo, and Wanda yesterday when they came over to celebrate my birthday.
Yesterday, I got together with Diana, Gwen, Norman, Cosmo, and Wanda. We went to a buffet/arcade place for lunch, then played minigolf. To my surprise, I tied Cosmo for first place (normally he wins at minigolf, even though I'm pretty sure he only plays on my birthday). We went back to my townhouse and had cake and ice cream.
Today, I had the day off of work and kept busy. I had donuts from the store for breakfast. I took a few more pictures, then uploaded them to my laptop to edit. I finished watching my "Doctor Who" DVD's. I did some cleaning stuff and wrote checks for some bills. I watched half of my Star Trek (2009 version) DVD and ate more of my leftover birthday cake. Clark, Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda called and wished me a happy birthday. I got a number of cards in the mail, including one from my former coworker Pat.

Monday, July 12, 2010

The Last Airbender Predators.

I had a pretty good weekend. I saw two movies and got some stuff down around the townhouse.

Friday night, I went to see The Last Airbender with Harry and Liz. It was a pretty good movie: it had amazing special effects, and it kept you guessing. I'll be interested to see if they make a sequel or two.

On Saturday, I got together with Harry and Liz again. We had lunch at Hector's. Harry and I went to see Predators (Liz would have seen it with us, but she wasn't feeling well). It was exciting and had some amazing effects. We ran a few errands, and he took me back to my place. I did some laundry and some reading. I also watched some of my "Doctor Who" DVDs.

On Sunday, I watched more of my "Doctor Who" DVDs. I stayed indoors most of the day and watched some episodes of "Mythbusters."

Monday, July 05, 2010

Fourth of July Weekend.

I had a great time over the Fourth of July weekend. On Friday night, I got together with Harry and Liz. We went to a friend of their's home to light fireworks (like the one pictured above). I lit several, as did Harry and a friend of his from his job.

On Saturday, I did a lot of stuff. I vacuumed most of the townhouse. I did some ironing. I watched more of my "Doctor Who" DVDs. I worked on laundry. I did some reading.

On Sunday, I did the usual stuff Sunday stuff. That evening, I got together with Harry and Liz again. We went to Harry's parents' house. We watched The Cowboys (a John Wayne movie) and ate apple pie. Harry lit some leftover fireworks. When I got home, I did some more reading.

Today, I watched TV. I took a nap, then did some ironing. I watched more "Doctor Who."

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Doctor Who, the A-Team, and Murderworld.

On Friday and Saturday, I watched more of my "Doctor Who" DVDs. The episodes I watched were the ones involving the aliens impersonating overweight British politicians in a bid to destroy the Earth. I plan to watch another episode tonight.

Yesterday, I finally got together with Harry and Liz. We went to lunch, then Harry and I went to see The A-Team. I wasn't allowed to watch the TV series growing up, but I loved the movie. There was lots of action and suspense. Afterwards, we rejoined Liz and ran some errands. They dropped me off at my place.

Yesterday, I also played more "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance." I did some exploration of Dr. Strange's home, then moved on to the Murderworld level. I rotated between Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and Spider-Man, spending most of my time as the first two. I completed the first half of the level: saving Senator Kelly, unlocking Blade, fighting Jean Grey a few times, playing "Pitfall", and working my way through a giant pinball machine with exploding pinballs......

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Father's Day weekend.

On Saturday, Diana and I went to Cosmo and Wanda's for lunch with them and Gwen. Afterwards, I went with Gwen to a birthday party, then she took me home. I did my laundry and some reading. I also watched part of my "Doctor Who: The Complete First Series" DVD.

Today, I did the usual Sunday stuff. I vacuumed my room and did more reading. I called my dad and wished him a happy Father's Day. Now, I plan to watch more "Doctor Who."

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Transformers, spiders, and the Valley of Spirits.

This weekend, I've been catching bits and pieces of the first live-action Transformers movie. I think it's cool how they got some sounds from the original animated series (the transforming sound and Optimus Prime's voice) in the movie. At some point, I plan to get the second movie on DVD (but I'm not in a rush).

On Saturday, I ran some errands and did the usual stuff. Diana and I ate out for lunch on Saturday, then I got some items from Costco. I got a nap in before doing laundry. I read more of No Man's Land.

I seem to be a spider magnet. Last week, I was reading something and looked down to see a large spider on the carpet next to my chair. Today, I was reading and spotted a small spider crawling on my bed less than a foot away.

Today, I finished the Valley of Spirits level on "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance." I defeated the Mandarin by rotating between Iron Man, Thor, and Spider-Man. I unlocked Dr. Strange and added him to my team after completing the level.

Sunday, June 06, 2010

No Man's Alliance.

Last week, I spent a lot of time reading a book I borrowed from Harry: Batman: No Man's Land. It seems to be a novelization of a Batman comic book series where Gotham had been declared a "No Man's Land" by the government after a major earthquake reduced the city to anarchy. Batman returns to the city three months after the No Man's Land declaration to find his enemies have been released from Arkham and a few of them (Two-Face and Penguin in particular) have divided the city amongst themselves. Also, a new Batgirl is on the scene and proving herself to be a silent and deadly warrior.....

On Saturday, I played more of "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance." I started the Valley of Spirits level, fighting against Dragon Man, Ultimo, and the Grey Gargoyle with Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, and Wolverine.

Today, I read more of No Man's Land and watched another tape I have of "Star Trek: Enterprise" episodes. I also worked on the laundry and watched TV.

Monday, May 31, 2010

Memorial Day Weekend.

I had a pretty busy Memorial Day weekend. On Friday, I got out of work early and got together with Harry and Liz. We got picked up some dinner and went to their place. Harry and I watched Avatar on blu-ray. Later, we roasted marshmellows over a portable fire pit and had s'mores with Liz.

On Saturday, I went to Norman and Gwen's future home and helped them with some cleaning there. Some people brought some stuff for us to unload, then we headed back to my townhome. Diana got us some pizza for dinner.

On Sunday, I did the usual stuff. I worked on laundry (I didn't get to it on Saturday like I normally do) and did some reading. I played more of my "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" game, starting the Atlantis level.

Today, I had the day off of work. I did more reading and finished the laundry. I also did some cleaning in my room and finished the Atlantis level on "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance."

Sunday, May 23, 2010

BBQ lunches, Star Trek: Enterprise.

On Saturday, I got together with Diana, Gwen, Norman, and Norman's folks for lunch at a bistro restaurant. It was to celebrate Gwen's teaching job. I had a pulled BBQ chicken sandwich, and it was pretty good. I also did laundry and some reading.

Today, I also had some BBQ chicken for lunch, using store-bought chicken. Later, Diana and I went out and got a new filter for my townhome's furnace. The old one had been there (if the date written on it was accurate) nearly six years. Later, I did some reading and watched "Mythbusters." Now, I've started watching my tape of the first season of "Star Trek: Enterprise."

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Busy week, quiet weekend.

The week was pretty busy for me. At work, a new application system was being tested. They wanted us to put in overtime, so I put in some extra afternoon hours and worked through lunch Wednesday through Friday. My supervisors were kind enough to get my department catered lunches on Wednesday through Friday.

It was a quiet weekend. On Saturday, I did the laundry and some ironing. I also did some cleaning stuff I hadn't gotten to the week before. Harry had called me Friday night to let me know he had some cleaning of his own to do, so we didn't get together this weekend. I played more of my "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" game on my PS2.

Today, I did the usual Sunday stuff. I took a nap after lunch. I did some reading and some stuff online. I called Clark and left a message on his voice mail.

Sunday, May 09, 2010

Iron Man 2, Mother's Day.

Last week, I watched my DVD copy of Iron Man. Yesterday, I got together with Harry and Liz to see Iron Man 2. It was pretty good, though there were some parts of it that were iffy (like a drunken Tony Stark celebrating his birthday in his Iron Man armor). Afterwards, they took me back to my place. I did my laundry and some reading. I played my "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" game.

Today, I did the usual Sunday stuff, then got together with some people for lunch. Diana and I met with Cosmo, Wanda, Norman, Gwen, and Norman's parents and grandmother. We had lasagna, cake, and ice cream. Gwen's birthday is in a few days, so Diana and I gave her a gift today. Afterwards, I went home and took a nap.

Sunday, May 02, 2010

Work, Free Comic Book Day.

I got a temporary job at the place I was working at as a temp back in December and January. I started on Thursday, and everyone seemed glad to see me back. I even came in on Saturday to work some hours in the afternoon (mostly because I hadn't worked most of the week and felt I could use the extra pay).....

Yesterday was Free Comic Book Day (the first Saturday in May every year). I went to the closest participating comic book store in the morning. To my surprise, there were two huge lines outside the store a mere ten minutes after the store was supposed to open. I waited outside in line for nearly an hour, watching some interesting people in costumes walking around. There were guys dressed as stormtroopers and clone troopers. There was a guy dressed as Batman (Michael Keaton version), and a gal dressed as Tinker Bell. I also saw a guy with a life-sized remote control red and white R2 unit that looked like it was made of wood and metal. It moved and sounded a lot like R2D2 from the Star Wars movies. There was also a convertible modified to look like K.I.T.T. from "Knight Rider" (the 1980's version) in the parking lot. Sadly, I didn't have my digital camera with me, though I was able to take a few pictures with the camera on my cell phone. I got seven free comic books and bought a pack of protective covers after I got inside. To my amusement, I found myself behind the same people in line at the counter as I had been when I was in line outside the store.....

Today was Norman and Gwen's second anniversary. I posted them on Facebook and talked to Gwen on the phone in the afternoon. I finished some laundry leftover from Saturday and did some napping and reading.

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Cleaning week and Iron Man.

While I waited to hear back on the job I interviewed for a couple of weeks ago, I kept busy. I did various cleaning tasks around the townhouse. I read a couple of books. I played some games online and watched my tape of some episodes of the 1990's Spider-Man animated series.

Yesterday, I got together with Harry. We visited a few stores, but didn't buy anything at either. We picked up some lunch from Runza and went to his house. We watched Iron Man (the live action movie) while we ate. Liz and Harry's folks dropped by briefly, then Harry took me back to my place.

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Quiet weekend at home.

My friends (Harry and Liz) had stuff to do at their place, so I didn't get together with them. I spend most my time at home. I did laundry and watched taped episodes of the 1990's "Spider-Man" animated series. I played some video games online and took a few naps.

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Easter pic, weekend at home.

Above is a picture I took of the chocolate bunny I ate after dinner on Easter. It was solid chocolate, about half an inch think, four inches tall, and three inches wide.
This weekend, I was feeling ill and stayed at home most of the time. I watched the last three episodes of season three of "Doctor Who" and Mega-shark vs. Giant Octopus. I did my laundry and some ironing. I also edited some pictures I got off of my camera and e-mail.

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Easter Weekend.

I had a pretty good Easter weekend. On Friday, I swept most of the dust, mud, and dead leaves out of the garage. That night, Diana and I went to the Good Friday service.

On Saturday, I got together with Cosmo, Wanda, Diana, Gwen, and Norman. We had ham, cheesy potatos, and red applesauce. Norman showed us some pics from his missions trip to Africa (he was part of a group from the church that went there recently).

On Sunday, I did my usual Sunday stuff. I had gotten some Easter candy from the grocery store and ate some of it with my dinner. For dessert, I ate a solid chocolate bunny I had bought last weekend.

Sunday, March 28, 2010

How to Train Your Dragon, They.

Yesterday was Liz's birthday. We got together with Harry and went to see How to Train Your Dragon. It was really good. Afterwards, we had lunch at Wendy's. Liz wasn't feeling well (she didn't eat lunch, just theater food), so they took me home.

Today, I've been doing the usual Sunday stuff. I found a movie that has been on a few times today on at least two different channels called They. It appears to be about a group of young people plagued by creatures that leap out at them in dark places. Each of these people (about four of them) finds a strange mark on their body shortly before the creatures get them (or in one character's case, before he freaks out and kills himself to escape the creatures). You know when the creatures are about to attack because the light in the room starts to flicker, then goes out.....

Speaking of creatures in dark places, I have a large spider about the size of Peter (the funnel web spider I kept alive in a jar for about two years) hiding in the shadows behind a pipe between the sink and the toilet. It has a web there, and I have been tossing ants into the web. I haven't been getting the ants from outside--they have been appearing in my bathroom a lot recently....

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Alice in Wonderland.

Yesterday, I went to see Alice in Wonderland (in 3-D) with Harry. The movie was really good, even better than I expected. Depp's Mad Hatter was a bit crazy, as was Carter's Red Queen. I thought the CGI Cheshire Cat was really cool, floating around and disappearing throughout the movie. After the movie, we had lunch at Valentino's (an Italian buffet).

Monday, March 15, 2010

Quiet weekend.

I didn't end up getting together with Tom and Liz this past weekend. I did my laundry, did some reading, and watched some stuff on DVD. I have been playing games on a free online multiplayer site I found recently. My favorite is "Balloono"--you're a monkey armed with water balloons and trying to take out the other monkeys.

Sunday, March 07, 2010

Weekend of Two Movies.

I have not heard back from the place I interviewed at last week. I talked with Pat and Larry on the phone. Larry didn't have any work for us, but hopefully that will change soon.

On Saturday, I spend the day with Harry and Liz. They had some errands to run, so I tagged along. We ate lunch with Harry's folks at Hector's, then went back to Harry's place. Harry and I watched Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths on DVD. Later, we got some pizza for dinner and watched The Vampire's Assistant on DVD with Liz. Afterwards, they gave me a lift home and let me have the leftover pizza.

Today, I have been working on laundry. I did some reading and some ironing as well. I borrowed Up from Harry and Liz and plan to start watching it this evening.

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Movies, the past few weeks.

I have seen a few movies with Harry and Liz the last few weeks. The Friday before Valentine's Day we went to see Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. It had some great special effects, though the title character was a bit rebellious. Yesterday, we went to see 2012. Harry and I had seen the movie before, but Liz hadn't. We saw it in the cheap theater ($2 a ticket in the afternoon), and it was as good as I remembered it.

Not much else has been going on. I have been reading some books I got from Liz for Christmas. Last weekend, Liz was ill, so Harry and I didn't end up getting together. I applied for work at a few places recently and got interviewed for one of those places on Friday morning. Pat gave me a lift to and from my interview. I have been playing my PS2 game, "Spider-Man: Friend or Foe."

Sunday, February 07, 2010

Hulk Saturday, Soup Bowl Sunday.

Yesterday, I got together with Harry and Liz. We ran some errands and had lunch at Hector's (local Mexican restaurant). We went back to their place, and Harry finished his game of "Batman: Arkham Asylum." He tried out this game he rented called "Darksiders." It was pretty exciting, and he did well most of the time he was playing. We watched two animated Hulk movies on DVD: Planet Hulk and Hulk vs. Thor. We had waffles for dinner while watching the second movie. Afterwards, Harry took me back to my place.

Today, Diana and I went to Cosmo and Wanda's for lunch. We ate soup with some relatives, and Norman and Gwen were there as well. After I got back into town, I worked on my laundry and ate leftover soup (chicken noodle) for dinner.

Spider-Man, Quiet Weekend.

I started a new game of "Spider-Man: Friend or Foe" on Thursday. I got through the first area (Japan) on Thursday. Yesterday, I got most of the way through the second area (Tangaroa Island).

Other than that, it was a pretty quiet weekend. I didn't get together with Harry and Liz. Diana and Gwen were out of town at a retreat. I did a lot of reading and ironed a few shirts. I watched different stuff on TV, including the movie Meet the Robinsons. After Diana and Gwen returned from their retreat, we ate at a burger place called "Five Guys." I got my hair cut after doing my grocery shopping, then started working on the laundry.

California pic, Legion.

The above picture is one I took of the beach south of the pier near Huntington Beach, CA. It was a nice day when we went to the pier, unlike the first time I visited the pier a few years ago.

Friday, I had my last day at my temporary job at the telecommunications company. I was rather emotional during the last minutes of my shift. It wasn't just that my job was over, and I would need to find another one. I had grown fond of my coworkers and was going to miss them.

Yesterday, I did some reading and vacuumed my room. I got a call from Harry, and I got together with him and Liz. We ran some errands, then went to see Legion. It was gory at times, and I didn't care for the language, but it was exciting. After the movie, they took me back to my place. Diana and Gwen came over, and we watched a show online called "Modern Family."

Today, I did the usual Sunday stuff. I took a nap and did some reading. I worked on my laundry. Tomorrow, I return to job hunting.....

Vegas pics, Saturday movies.

The top picture is a pic I took of the Las Vegas strip (between Mandalay Bay and the Tropicana) while waiting for the plane I was on to take off. The second picture is one I got of the desert after flying out of Las Vegas.
Yesterday, Harry and I got together. We had lunch and went to see Daybreakers. It was gory, but otherwise pretty good. We went back to his place and met up with Liz. She had rented a few movies, and we watched Jennifer's Body (gory, but not as good as the first movie we saw that day) and Donkey Xote (an animated version of the story of Don Quixote in the spirit of the Shrek movies). We ate pizza during the second movie, then Harry took me back to my place.
Today, I have been busy with laundry and some other things I didn't get to last week. I called Trixie to wish her a happy birthday. I finally bought a planner to help me keep track of things I do day-to-day.

Final days of vacation, back to work.

Well, I had a pretty good time my last few days in California. On Saturday, I went to a nearby park with Cosmo, Wanda, Clark, Diana, Timmy, Trixie, Norman, and Gwen. We took turns hitting and fielding softballs. I got some power hits in, but not as many as usual because I was sore from kayaking on Friday. That night, about half of our group watched my DVD of Star Trek.

On Sunday, we checked out a church in Lake Forest called Saddleback. We got to hear Rick Warren (I think I spelled that right) preach. That evening, I played some Wii games with Timmy, Gwen, Norman, Diana, and Clark.

On Monday morning, we (Clark, Diana, Norman, Gwen, and I) flew back to our homes. Clark only took the first flight, but the rest of us caught a second flight from Phoenix to the Midwest. Interestingly enough, there were birds flying around inside the airport terminal in Phoenix.

On Tuesday, I went back to work. I was called into a meeting and learned my time temping there was nearly done. The busy season was over, they said, and they couldn't keep the temps on past the end of the next pay cycle (a week from this Friday). I did some photo editing from my trip. I hope to post some stuff here in the days ahead.

Enjoying the Birthland.

Today is my second full day in the Birthland. On Wednesday, I texted Harry from the airport after we arrived in California. I went with Cosmo, Wanda, and Gwen to the home I spent the first two years of my life in. I played Wii Bowling with Timmy, Trixie, Gwen, Norman, Clark, and Diana. I did great on the first game, but somewhat poorly on the second game. We (Norman, Gwen, Clark, and myself) also played Mario Cart. I wasn't very good at that, though I did do better than Clark.

Yesterday was my first full day in California. I walked around the neighborhood with Norman, Gwen, and Diana. After lunch, Timmy joined us, and we drove downtown. We walked around there, then walked up and down the pier. Gwen and I checked out the Surfing Museum. Later, we got together with Cosmo, Wanda, and Clark and had lasagna for dinner.

Today, we all (except Trixie) went down to the beach to watch Timmy surf. Clark, Diana, Norman, Gwen, and I did some walking along the path next to the beach. After lunch, we rented some kayaks and paddled around the harbor.

Blogging Up in Vegas.

Well, I am currently in an airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. Early this morning, I boarded a plane with Norman, Gwen, Diana, Cosmo, and Wanda. About an hour ago, we landed in Vegas. Norman was kind enough to loan me his laptop while he, Gwen, Diana, and Wanda went to get some airport food. I have already taken about half a dozen pictures, and I hope to post at least on of my Vegas pics here in the next few weeks. Soon, we will be boarding another plane and heading to the Birthland: California!

Sherlock Holmes, late Christmas.

I had a pretty good weekend. On Saturday, I spent time with friends. First, I went to see Sherlock Holmes with Harry. Later, I got together with people I used to go to Sunday School with. I also worked on laundry and did some reading.

Today, I celebrated a late Christmas with Cosmo, Wanda, Diana, and Gwen. Cosmo and Wanda were snowed in last weekend, so we didn't get to see them. We had soup and some desserts, then talked about our upcoming vacation to California.

Happy New Year!

Here is one of the pictures I took at Christmas of the snow we got:

On Thursday, I got out of work early. I spoke with Harry during my lunch break, and we decided to get together with Liz. About an hour after I got home, Harry and Liz came to pick me up. We ran a few errands, then went back to their place. Harry and I watched some stuff on DVD, then exchanged Christmas gifts (I finally received the gift I ordered for Liz in the mail earlier in the week). Afterwards, we watched Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. We joined Liz upstairs and helped her with puzzle she was working on.

After midnight, Liz retired, but Harry and I still worked on the puzzle. We made some progress, but it was time for me to get back to my place. Later this morning, I woke up and got some stuff done. I did some vacuuming, ironed some shirts, and did some reading. I made mac'n cheese for lunch and ate the leftovers for dinner.
