I had a pretty dull week this past week, except for Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Cosmo was in town, and we had lunch at a local pizza buffet. Afterwards, we went to Best Buy, and I got a memory card with a gift card I got for my birthday.
After a few days of thought, I decided to use my new memory card with a used game my friends Harry and Liz had given me months ago: "Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows." I had played this game with Harry before and really enjoyed it, so I thought I would start a solo game with it using the memory card to save my progress. On Friday, I created my character, a wizard I named Prosper (after the Shakespeare character Prospero in The Tempest). I fought my way through the first levels, stopping after I beat the first "Boss", the Scarecrow (the 2nd Sorrow).
On Saturday, I played the game for a few more hours. I managed to beat the 3rd Sorrow, a tree-like giant called the Twisted Man, though I died a couple of times in the process. Fortunately, there doesn't seem to be a limit on lives in the game. I did better against the 4th Sorrow, the Stone Golem. I looked at the online walk-thru and discovered the key to beating him was to do a "manna blast" every time I got him to destroy a pillar one of his wizards was standing on. Once the wizard fell off the pillar, the manna blast would toast him and weaken the Golem. After the last of the Golem's wizards died, the Golem itself fell to pieces.....
Besides played "Gauntlet", I did other stuff this week. I did some cleaning and laundry. I watched a few of my DVDs of the first season of "Heroes." I haven't heard from Harry at all this week. I talked to Larry and Pat on the phone. I did some online job hunting and applied at a place a few miles from the townhouse on Friday.
